'at any other publication!!' type stuff - PC Gamer literally published the same story on the same day and no one gives a crap, the vast majority of outrage about this online is just people ragging on kotaku you're not gonna lose out on a sequel to a game cause a few thousand people downloaded a better looking / running version of it online lolĪlso re. Most people who pirate stuff either own the game already or were never going to buy it in the first place. there's so much to be mad about in the games industry (notably: the way workers are treated!) and something like this, which is just pennies out of bosses' millions at 'worst'. Literally who cares, mega corps like nintendo are going to be just fine and it's good that more people get to play their shit who maybe couldn't afford it or whatever.

I emulated drakengard 3 even though I own the disk and once owned a working ps3 (for many years) but im not buying a used ps3 to play one game when, Emulation is at a point where my pc can run ps3 titles very well and the game is not being distributed anymore. Im a HUGE nier fan, but my ps3 is straight up dead. But right now nah, consoles very much relevant and the game is still being distributed. Honestly two or more gens from now, when the switch is old, not manufactured anymore, then yeah imo dread is fair game for Emulation. If those games were on switch legally? Awesome, current modern console that most hsve access to already or can easily. Asking people to buy a wiiU for some old af roms is actually ridiculous. After a gen or two imo if the publishers dont continue support on new platforms then its fair game. If you think im buying a wiiU when i have a switch and a pc that could run these old af games, nah. I think its scummy they did that for dread.however If after all that the game barely sells because a major gaming outlet is telling people how easy it is to pirate, they'll end up never making a Metroid game again because they apparently aren't profitable. MS made an amazing game and Nintendo is supporting the hell out of it with marketing. Nintendo and Mercury Steam both did everything right here for once. What Kotaku is doing here is toxic and harmful for the entire gaming community. Emulation of otherwise unavailable games is the only exception I've made.

However, as someone who works as a software developer to put food on the table I figured it would be immensely hypocritical of me if I'd pirate games that are readily available on a modem console or PC, so I haven't pirated a game in almost two decades. After all, if the publisher wanted to make money on it they'd have made it available. If you can't play a game because it's not been made available on a system that is still relevant I see little harm in pirating it. Downvotes are only supposed to be used for comments that do not contribute to the ongoing discussion / thread.ĭo not post about playing games on yuzu which haven't been released yet. This is exactly my take.

This subreddit is only for yuzu and it's development.ĭon't be a jerk. Please view the quickstart guide down below for approximate system requirements. "Can my PC with x specs run yuzu?" threads should be kept at minimum. A guide on dumping keys and system archives can be found in the quickstart guide down below. Discussions about warez, downloading games and shader caches may result in a ban. Yuzu requires you to own a Switch and the games.
